How about some light inspirational reading? http://www.panarchy.org/tolstoy/1894.eng.html You may well have seen this before, but it’s worth reading if you have the time.

i loved Tolstoy even before I found out he was a spiritualist anarchist…he made great points that the modern state was as far from Christian principles as it was possible to be, depending on killing and stealing as it does.

Milton Friedman stated in 2006 that the austrian business-cycle theory has done the world a great deal of harm. What are your thoughts on Milton Friedman, and his seemingly anti-austrian views?

He also said “I do not believe that the solution to our problem is simply to elect the right people. The important thing is to establish a political climate of opinion which will make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing. Unless it is politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing, the right people will not do the right thing either, or it they try, they will shortly be out of office.” In principle, it seems pretty austrian to me and very accurate. What are your thoughts on this and thoughts on Milton in general?

(I won’t be offended if you don’t respond to this. Probably not a very captivating question haha. He’s just a bit of an enigma to me, and am curious about how you view him.)

Sorry, the 2006 quote was actually from 1998 — but still interested!

Thank you for addressing this last week. Blew my mind. Learned a lot. Thank you!

I have heard of this “production wealth” being skimmed off the top each year, but have been unclear as to how that happens. It seems to me this is the CRUX of the “wealth gap” that both sides of the political spectrum are trying to solve (at least the people). This is where both sides should meet. The fed basically steals the production wealth via spending power from the people each year. You’ve explained that with such ease and succinctness I wish I could just play it for everyone I know and have ever met lol. If everyone understood what you so easily explained, we’d be marching on Washington with pitchforks. I had no idea Milton Friedman was a fan of this. UGGGHHHH!

I hope you decide to dedicate a show to this issue in detail, or an hour. It’s hugely important for people to understand.

I was pretty surprised myself when I got that out in a couple of sentences! I will try to hit it again next Ask the Libertarian 🙂
