GEORGIA’S LIBERTY MOVEMENT AND THE DEATH PENALTY: DOES IT ALIGN WITH CONSERVATIVE AND LIBERTARIAN VALUES?
Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty (CCATDP), a national network of conservatives and libertarians questioning the alignment of capital punishment with their principles, will be the featured topic at the August 8th meeting of the Atlanta chapter of the America’s Future Foundation (more details below).
“No jury in Georgia has issued a death sentence in over three years, so it’s fair to say our state is changing when it comes to capital punishment,” said Jen Maffessanti, the AFF Atlanta Chapter Chair and the event organizer. “Our politically conservative state is turning away from the death penalty, and this discussion will be a great opportunity to learn more about this shift.”
In January, Georgia Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty was launched. It is one of 12 state-based conservative groups around the country questioning the death penalty.
