Ever since Michael called into the show yesterday telling us how John’s Creek implemented this International Property Maintenance Code I’ve been getting messages from all over complaining about the same…how on earth could one-code-fit-all?

This is all about the United Nations and our march toward world government. Atlanta is knee-deep in this stuff from being a Sustainable City a la ICLEI to being on the International Steering Committee of the Strong Cities Network, our local governments are serving all the UN Agendas from Agenda 21 to Agenda 2030 with the ultimate goal as laid out in the UN’s Habitat I plan of eliminating private ownership of land.
I told Michael and I think it’s a good idea that we consider transforming our idea of self-governance from watching Fox News and voting, to spending several hours per week on local government issues including putting together groups of citizens dedicated to attending any and all governmental meetings. What else can we do?
Coincidentally, I just watched this video and think maybe this guy’s organization is a good place to start….
Wow, you never cease to amaze me at how the most mundane thing can be vile. As a plumber I’ve tested for years on the plumbing code as well as the fuel code, chalked it up as something good. Now I feel violated for being fooled with the frog in the water routine. Thank you Monica as the class room continues to grow. I just had lunch with a family that sold their locally owned propane gas company. They sold it due to excessive intrusiveness by the DOT and DOE, as well as the IRS. They had this company in the family for decades that saw three generations. Given the time of the year (4th of July), there’s countless shows depicting the framers of this country. Then it dawned on me why the public school system do not teach government in a way that our framers would have found proper. If the general population of this country really knew their history of the founding of this nation. They would with a doubt realize that the British government was less intrusive upon the 13 colonies than our very own government, and they went to war. I ask myself as a veteran, as a businessman and as an American. How much longer can we as Americans take this intrusive behavior by people who have never served in uniform, ran a business, or made payroll.

Yep…gotta love it. OSHA is imposing Oregon follow federal OSHA guidelines even though their safety record is better than the national average. So OSHA who is “our” nanny for safety is willing to let people die because they want control. They have also increased their fines that are so excessive, it literally can put a good business with no injury claims out of business. EPA rules are increasing construction costs by mandating building products that are not user friendly. The benefit to the environment will never be able to be accurately measured.
As far as some of the building codes, many new requirements have enhanced the construction policies of the past. Residential requirement still stand to improve on the quality of construction. In many cases, people will move rather than try and keep up with the maintenance of their homes.

It’s getting crazy. It’s getting illegal to be a “prepper” or to try and live off the grid. These IPMC’s are making it hard to get solar power, use a rain barrel for retaining water, using wood to heat your home (the oldest form of heating known to man). Here’s and example I found from a story in Florida:

Today, those life choices could land you in jail if you live in South Florida. Take the case of Robin Speronis.
Robin Speronis has lived off the grid, independent of the city’s water and electric system. A Florida court ruled this off-the-grid living illegal last week and has given Robin until March to connect her home to a municipal water line or face possible eviction. Further, officials in the city of Cape Coral have justified this by deeming Robin’s home “unsanitary,” citing the International Property Maintenance Code. First of all, since when did we begin to locally recognize “international codes?” Where in the US Constitution does it provide for international jurisdiction over local codes? Ironically, this “international” code mandates that homes be connected to an electricity grid and a running water source, even though most of the world lives without reliable electricity and municipal water and sewer. Further, the code is outdated and obsolete because it was written without consideration to both old and new technologies that relegate the need for grid tied power and municipal water as unnecessary and expensive; especially, in locations where it simply isn’t feasible to have grid tied utilities. Nonetheless, Speronis’ home does in fact have power and water through far cheaper and more environmentally friendly means — solar panels and rainwater, but that reality is ignored by the local government.

I think you are confusing the detail with the problem here.
The problem is local government & civil servants. They are unelected, usually poorly paid and probably not the pinnacle of academic excellence. They are scared for their jobs and are determined make it to pension age without getting fired. Accordingly they will slavishly follow lists of rules (however meaningless) and will never dare to be creative or flexible. They will also back each other up … nobody is ever guilty in public employee land. It’s too easy for the working person aka victim to focus on the detail of the petty rules rather than on their right to bother you, or the origin and validity of the rules. In sales they call it the “presumptive close” … “Would you prefer the double glazing or treble glazing modules?” … when the question should be “Do you want any new windows at all?” In reality you can’t fight these creeps. For example, I had an argument with a local government worker … so he sent an Inspector to our smallholding who made us remove a small mobile home “as it could be used for illegal residence”. A quick look around the local fields would reveal small mobile homes in every direction … but we were the Target Of The Day. (These property Inspectors have stronger rights to come onto your land and to punish you than the police. They can also ask for your emails etc to be monitored. I’m sure US officials have similar powers). Every country has this sort of mid-level quasi ruling class … and I can’t imagine any social structure where these nonentities would actually have to do a real job.
Historically, the excesses of governments were hampered by the people’s freedom to leave to a better place. The walls will fix that though. Thanks, Trumpler. Now we can be protected like North Korea, China, and the USSR were from outsiders. Yes, It will be so nice when we the people are walled in like North Korea. Such a happy, wealthy. homogeneous nation is something to strive for. Right Trumplers? Am I right?
Why does Monica never focus on the tentacles that are pushing the one world government? The tentacles all trace back to Tel Aviv. Residents of Rothschilds Boulevard. There is some disagreement on the issue of intellectual property. Some of us don’t consider it real property at all, but a state-sponsored monopoly. The effects can be seen though pretty clearly if you think about it though. A musician may write one good song, and expect to receive benefits from it for the rest of his life. Instead of continuing to perform and create music, he gets a check. That is what is seen. what is not seen is that others are prevented from performing by government force, unless they pay the artist and whoever else has a stake in this “property” This may seem right to some, but if we apply it to lifesaving drugs and technology, we see that people suffer and die because they cannot afford to buy from those that hold the “property”, and cannot buy from those who do not because of the force of law.
Instead of practicing meanness of spirit, perhaps your time might well have been better spent learning about the things you talk about. You know, reading books and stuff.
The benefits of free trade in products and services are many. The drawbacks, though exaggerated by those with ulterior motives are small and negligible. It’s detractors are forced to search diligently for examples, and when they find one, they have to make the best of it, and ignore any contradictions they find. They are like a man who finds a ragged sheep upon a deserted island, and claims that it is the most beautuful woman he has ever seen. If the founders got anything right, it was freedom of association and free trade. Often bitter enemies become fast friends at the market, and frightening strangers from other cultures learn that they aren’t so different after all. In Moby Dick, I remember a famous line from Ishmael, the sole survivor, saying that he reckoned he’d rather share a flat with a sober cannibal than a drunken Christian, and he and that cannibal shipped together, and became good friends. It isn’t an option for a healthy, prosperous nation to trade freely, it is a necessity, because otherwise it will become hostile and afraid of everyone. Freedom isn’t for cowards, and prosperity isn’t for those that want to stay home and bolt their doors against the unknown.
Exchanged some ideas re 10th Amendment w/ Mr. Boldin many years ago when i was hot & heavy w/ FairTax…seems like 2007/08. He seemed knowledgeable, cordial, clever. So glad he’s still in the fight. I’d forgotten about his project. I wonder what he thinks about this group that wants to change the way we tally up votes vs. delegates….crud! *mind fart*….heard on the radio that they got 11 states to pass the provision & by 2018 they hope to have the majority of states. Effectively, your vote will matter. You won’t be outnumbered by virtue of your district. No one will care about swing states…. Something like that…ugh! Don’t get old, kids! Thanks Monica!
Mr.Boldin is a good guy. Was a fount of info when i was into the FairTax many years ago, maybe 2007/08. Knowledgeable, courteous, clever. Recall discussing the merits of a Constitutional Convention vs. voting to throw many bums & miscreants out of office. So glad he is still on the scene. Hate i ever lost track of him.
