On the show yesterday I played four clips. Here they are. The first video shows Santorum saying how much he dislikes and works against Libertarian tendencies and Tea Party influence in the Republican Party, the second clip is more freedom-bashing as called-out by the Great Judge Napolitano on Freedom Watch, and the third and fourth clips come from the last video (Santorum’s CPAC speech) where he claims to love freedom and be a Tea Partier! Isn’t lying a sin Mr. Holy-Than-Thou?
Santorum saying he has a problem with the Tea Party…

Santorum saying the government should NOT stay out of our bedrooms…

Rick Santorum at CPAC calling himself a Tea Partier (between 3:00 minutes and 3:30) and saying he wants to keep government out of our lives (between 10:00 minutes and 10:30). Oh and as an added bonus he starts the speech saying that conservatism hasn’t failed the country, rather conservatives failed conservatism. Sorry to let you down, buddy.

One thing is for sure, there is no perfect candidate. I do NOT like everything about any of them but the least offensive to me is Santorum. Romney and Gingrich are both huge Progressives, believing that all problems can and should be fixed government. Santorum’s words (and I watch all the clips I can put my hands on) at least match my desire for a much smaller government/less tax/less entitlements. I assume that Ron Paul is your guy but I can’t get past his positions on the Middle East. In my opinion, they are dangerous.
I am tired of seeing our liberty disappear with every stroke of this president’s pen. The most recent is the assault on religious freedom. I’m not Catholic, but if they can do it to them, all of us (even atheists) need to be worried. Why aren’t we talking about that?? The UN’s Agenda 21 and how this administration is embracing a World Government through environmentalism, another great topic. These are the things that keep me up at night, not whether Santorum is conservative enough. Anything we have to vote for will be a step to the right of the current POTUS.
But don’t you think the middle clip where Santorum says he doesn’t believe in low taxes and low regulations and doesn’t believe in keeping the government OUT of your bedroom put Santorum in the same big government category as Romney & Gingrich? I would also respectfully submit that Ron Paul’s foreign policy is the only one that will keep us out of World War III–I think our continuing policies of incompetent interventions are what’s dangerous. As you can tell by looking at my website, I have no faith whatsoever in government and believe we are heading toward moral, fiscal and military collapse no matter which party is in control, but I think it’s important for us all to keep thinking about these issues and keep bouncing around our ideas and thoughts, so thank you very much for the comment. Please call the show if you are so inclined and we can have some back and forth on this in real time!
Oh, and yes! We have to start talking about UN’s Agenda 21–you are so right about what the BIG issues are!
Rick Santorum is so toxic it amazes me he’s still in the race. If you examine his voting record while in the senate it’s clear the man is big government through and through. Not only is he big government, but his comments in last night’s debate show what a completely smarmy, (yeah I said smarmy), stone cold politician he is. When he talks about voting for things he doesn’t believe in (now that he’s running for president that is) because he was “taking one for the team”; and how politics is a “team game”. He’s talking about the kind of back door deal making that a growing number of US citizens are sick of. He admits that he doesn’t follow through on what his conscience dictates; rather he’s so weak that he bows to political pressure from his fellows. It’s hard not to contrast him with Ron Paul in this, as that candidate is a multi-term congressman who has never voted against what he believes. At least I know, absolutely, what I’m getting with Ron Paul. The same can’t be said for Santorum or most of the people who run for office. It’s a sad commentary on our political system, really.
Finally, for those who view Iran as dangerous, I’d ask you to ponder this. At what point did we attack the USSR, China, India, Israel, or any other nation for acquiring a nuclear weapon? I’m not saying I support countries obtaining nuclear weapons. I’m saying Iran doesn’t even have 1 nuclear device! How dangerous are they? What do you honestly expect them to do? The day they have a nuclear weapon, you expect them to use it? I agree that would be a worst case scenario, especially for Iran, since the next day the entire world would come together and wipe that country from the face the earth. There would be nothing left. The leaders of Iran know this, and I don’t believe they have any interest in dying as a footnote in history.
Great comment! Your point that Iran would not commit suicide day one of getting a nuke is spot on–that’s why Gingrich, the Wall Street Journal, etc. insist that we cannot view Iran as a rational actor, that they are madmen, etc.–it’s because these arguments that Iran is an imminent threat to our safety are not reasonable.
Good Posts but I think Ron Paul is right on about the Middle East and other foreign entities. Why wouldn’t they feel threatened or respond when we have numerous military installations and billions of dollars invested in watchmen and occupiers?
I think many Americans need to look at it from a different angle. How would we feel if China, Russia didn’t “trust” us or had questionable “evidence” to build bases in Texas, New York or California to watch us? We wouldn’t like it and we would be fighting them and then we would be considered “insurgents”.
At the very least, his views on foreign policy are no more dangerous than the ones we currently have. We are currently throwing rocks at a hornets nest. We have to remember the foreign policy affects our liberty too. We have to spend the money to occupy and build bases. Which will eventually mean printing more money or raising taxes, not to mention the price we pay in lives.
To your comment about globalization through environmentalism, I totally agree. I also agree with the attack on religion, but, we have to keep in mind that the “Christian” conservatives are a threat too because they would enforce their morals.
Isn’t it becoming evident that government is the problem?
