Romney & Obama Slay 'Em at The Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner

These two videos are packed with laughs from last night’s Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation fundraiser traditionally attended by both presidential candidates. The two candidates are roasting each other hard – it’s hilarious!
Note. Alfred Emanuel “Al” Smith was an American statesman who was elected the 42nd Governor of New York three times and was the Democratic U.S. presidential candidate in 1928. Last night’s dinner was the foundation’s annual white tie fundraiser for Catholic Charities.

  1. My culture has well equipped me to enjoy witty double entendre. It’s not likely that either man wrote any of their material, but it was delivered well. I laughed as intended, but “severely appreciated” (to paraphrase Mitt) the truth of the sharp barbs in a few of Romney’s lines. Without the jest, the criticism would have been inappropriate in that setting. The honesty of the stinging rebuke stayed with me because of the craft of the wordsmith’s humor.

I didn’t find Obama’s barbs so clever because they were largely superficial or untrue. Obama couldn’t point out Romney’s true flaws because he shares them. I think there is little difference in their views of the proper size and reach of government. The only way to guarantee the ends of your social engineering is to have absolute power.

I think Romney will win the election. So, if Barry loses, what can/might he do between the election and January 20th? He has mastered the “Executive Order”, and he could surely sign a lot of them in ten weeks. A Constitutionally-anchored president would simply rescind them, but I don’t have much confidence in Romney. He has already said that he will not rescind Barry’s E.O. to grant effective amnesty to illegal aliens who “say” that they were brought to the U.S. when they were children. Both men consistently worship their #1 god, political correctness.
