I’m a truck driver who used to work for the railroad, and I can tell you that the railroads already gloat about the fact that they’re cheaper than trucks; in fact, they’re cheaper than trucks down to distances as short as 400 miles. Also, passenger rail is already nationalized; AMTRAK is, for the most part, a federal – government agency.
