My mother, an 86 year old devout Catholic, just arrived to help us celebrate the first communion of my oldest son, my sweet 12 year old who has Down syndrome…these are two of my favorite people in the world and this promises to be a good time! As soon as my mother arrived, she insisted I read this poem. She is not the sentimental type, nor is she a dreamer in the slightest bit, so I was surprised that this was what was top of mind for her. I was also surprised by how much I too liked the poem. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I want to just stop worrying about what is going on in the world and give up, so I often search my soul to find strength and purpose. This poem offers me a new way to think about this problem…how bout you?
The Lord God said: I myself will dream a dream within you,
Good dreaming comes from me, you know.
My dreams seem impossible,
not too practical nor for the cautious man or woman;
a little risky sometimes,
a trifle brash perhaps.
Some of my friends prefer to rest more comfortably
in sounder sleep with visionless eyes.
But from those who share my dreams
I ask a little patience,
a little humour,
some small courage,
and a listening heart – I will do the rest.
Then they will risk and wonder at their daring;
run, and marvel at their speed;
build, and stand in awe
at the beauty of their building.
You will meet me often
as you work in your companions who share the risk,
in your friends who believe in you
enough to lend their own dreams,
their own hands,
their own hearts,
to your building.
In the people who will stand in your doorway,
stay awhile
And walk away knowing that they too can find a dream.
There will be sun-filled days
And sometimes a little rain –
a little variety both come from me.
So come now, be content.
It is my dream you dream,
my house you build,
my caring you witness;
my love you share
And this is the heart of the matter.
KEEP IN MIND WE ARE FINITE AND THIS WORLD IS FINITE; HOWEVER, WHEN YESHUAH HO MESSIAH(JESUS CHRIST) RETURNS, THERE SHALL BE NO MORE HOSPITALS, CEMETERIES, EVIL, NOR SIN. WE WERE NOT SUPPOSE TO LIVE THIS LIFE IN THE FIRST PLACE. JUST HAVE TO KEEP FOCUSING ON THE KINGDOM OF YAHVEH, THE HEAVENLY FATHER, WHEN CHRIST RETURNS TO ESTABLISH THIS KINGDOM, THAT SHALL NEVER BE PUT TO RUIN AND WE SHALL RECEIVE OUR IMMORTALITY. THERE WE SHALL BE ASSIGNED DUTIES TO SERVE, WITHOUT EVIL OR SIN, AND INFINITE UNIVERSES SHALL BE CLEANSED FROM DEMONIC BEINGS AND FALLEN ANGELS. ALWAYS KNOW TO PARA PHRASE, WHAT IS IT TO GAIN THE ENTIRE WORLD ONLY TO LOOSE ONE’S SOUL. THE MARK OF THE BEAST SHALL SEPARATE US INTO TWO GROUPS (1) THOSE THAT SERVE YESHUAH AND THE HEAVENLY FATHER AS ONE UNIT, AND (2) THOSE THAT ACCEPT THE MARK AND SERVEING THE NEW WORLD ORDER. AT THIS POINT THERE SHALL NOT BE A MIDDLE GROUND, THE SEPARATION PROCESS IS NOW BEGINNING. WHEN CHRIST RETURNS YOUR 12 YEAR OLD WILL NOT HAVE DOWN SYNDROME, BUT WILL BE ALLOWED TO GROW INTO IMMORTALITY IN THE KINGDOM, BUT CAN NOT ACCEPT THE MARK OF THE BEAST. WE MUST NOW DECIDE BETWEEN MORTALITY OR IMMORTALITY, THE BLUE AND THE RED PILLS WILL NO LONGER EXIST.
Oh Monica, this is truly a wondrous poem, and a ‘keeper’. Mother knows her daughter well! And I also find it easy to slip into a funk over the seemingly intractable problems and the unending number of evildoers and their sycophants who cause many or most of the problems. And at the blindness of most of those around me. Thank you for sharing this with us! And enjoy your special time now with your family!
Beautiful. Thanks for posting. Definitely we all need to remove our focus from so many problems and let God do His work. Prayers for a beautiful week with your family!
In the Pléiade edition of Péguy’s poetic works (1957) there’s a long, long poem (pp. 531-670), “Le Porche du Mystère de la Deuxième Vertu” (1911), which I suspect is where the original of “God’s dream” may be found. The “Second Virtue” is Hope. (I wonder if there has been any movement to have Péguy declared a Saint?)
