What is a libertarian? by the great Harry Browne

PhotoG52I just got an email from JB asking if I thought supporting Trump was a valid libertarian position…I guess it depends on what you think Trump really believes, but I know what a libertarian really believes, as did the GREAT Harry Browne:

“We should never define libertarian positions in terms coined by liberals and conservatives, nor as some variant of their positions. We are not fiscally conservative and socially liberal. We are libertarians, who believe in individual liberty and personal responsibility on all issues at all times.”

  1. While on active duty many moons ago, I had a mentor that shared some wisdom that I have kept close to me ever since. Always know the difference between personality and substance when dealing with people. Using this principle I can see where our framers where very libertarian, though most were also devout Christian. By today’s standards even Ben Franklin would be considered religious. What most do not realize is the Bible is about freedom, and individual responsibility. One could say the Bible is full of corrupt kings, which is true. One has to get beyond the English translation to see what I’m talking about, which many of our framers did in earnest. Most Americans today cannot tell the difference between a socialist or a conservative. Many people assume all violence originates from the right. Good topic. I wish high schools still taught true unbiased social studies.
I’ll stay in the race as long as you do
